• October 2024: Sobhani Lab awarded the JPL Strategic University Research Partnerships (SURP) grant to develop ceramic heat pipes for high voltage systems.

• February 2024: Sobhani Lab awarded a 2030 Project Fast Grant from the Cornell Atkinson Center to develop fuel-flexible porous media burners.

• February 2024: Sobhani Lab awarded a DARPA project led by Prof. Petro, aimed to develop electrospray thrusters for VLEO, where our group focuses on the additive manufacturing of novel glass and ceramic emitters, as well as capillary flow modeling of the propellant.

• January 2024: Sobhani Lab awarded Air Force Research Lab Regional Network Mid-Atlantic Stage 2 grant to advance silicon nitride 3D printing for air force relevant applications in collaboration with Moog.

• January 2024: Giancarlo D’Orazio and Andrew van Paridon present at the AIAA SciTech Forum in Orlando.

• November 2023: Sobhani Lab awarded project with TOTAL Energies for method development for reliability and failure mechanism of electrodes in CO2 reduction reactors using synchrotron X-ray radiography.

• September 2023: Prof. Sobhani is awarded the 2024 NASA Early Career Faculty Award. This award will support research on developing novel ionic liquids for high-performance heat transfer fluids using machine learning.

• August 2023: Sobhani Lab awarded Air Force Research Lab Regional Network Mid-Atlantic Stage 1 grant led by Prof. Petro to develop embedded cooling for Hall Thrusters, in collaboration with AVS US.

• July 2023: Sobhani Lab awarded the Cornell Atkinson Center Academic Venture Fund to pursue advanced vapor-fed CO2 reduction reactors with Prof. Rong Yang, Prof. Tobias Hanrath, and Dr. Allison Chatrchyan.

• March 2023: Congratulations Charlotte Albunio, awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship to support her work on additive manufacturing of wood-like materials!

• March 2023: Congratulations Jimmy Ringsby for receiving the 2023 US National Combustion Meeting Undergraduate Research award for his work in unsteady operation of porous media burners!

• January 2023: Congratulations Giancarlo D'Orazio and Charlotte Albunio for each receiving a Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability Graduate Research Grant! Giancarlo will be investigating  advanced carbon dioxide reduction reactors and Charlotte will be investigating additive manufacturing of wildfire-prone tree species.

• November 2022: Prof. Sobhani joins the Cornell delegation to the United Nations COP27 meeting in Egypt, delivering a talk about the cutting-edge research at Cornell in advanced clean energy technologies.

• January 2022: Prof. Sobhani is teaching a new class at Cornell, "Spacecraft Thermal Management" MAE 4950/6950. This course will overview the strategies, technologies and governing scientific principles applied to control and protect spacecraft against extreme heating or cooling.
